Module 0 — Orientation: Welcome + How To Use This Academy (Lesson)
This trade has a low barrier to entry. That’s good news — it means you can start, you can learn, and you can build a real business without needing a degree or a giant budget.
But it’s a double‑edged sword.
Easy entry means competition, and it also means a lot of bad info. Some of it is honest confusion. Some of it is gatekeeping. And some of it is guys acting like the job is “secret chemistry” — they’ll tell you “that’s what you get for not using the proper procedure” while trying to sell you “the perfect chemical.”
Here’s the Tampa Bay Soft Wash standard: knowledge is power, and you’re not getting better by guessing. You get better by running a repeatable process, documenting your work, and closing out like a pro.
That’s what this Academy is.
What this Academy does
This course is built to help you:
- diagnose surfaces and stains before you spray
- choose the least aggressive method that works
- protect property (plants, paint, windows, fixtures)
- produce clean results you can stand behind
- document proof (photos + notes)
- close out the job with confidence
- earn reviews the right way (because reviews are still the meta)
Why tbsoftwash.com is offering a free Academy (transparent)
I’m publishing this for two reasons:
- To set a baseline standard for exterior cleaning — specifically soft washing and pressure washing.
- Because I’m tired of the gatekeeping and the vague “trade secret” nonsense. You shouldn’t have to get burned three times before you learn the basics.
Yes, this also builds trust and authority for our company. I’m not hiding that. If the Academy helps you and you support us later through gear links or products, I appreciate it. If you don’t, use the training anyway.
The closeout mindset (where you separate from the pack)
Most guys think the job ends when the surface looks clean.
It doesn’t.
You separate yourself at the closeout. After the customer walkaround, we say something like:
There was a lot of square footage that we cleaned today — if you see anything at all that bothers you, call us. We’ll be happy to come back out and fix whatever it is that’s bothering you. I would much rather fix it than let it bother you — seriously, don’t hesitate.
That one habit prevents silent dissatisfaction and protects your reputation.
Reviews are still the meta
We always ask for a Google review. This will continue to matter for the foreseeable future.
Default timing: 24–72 hours later (give the customer time to enjoy the clean, and ask while the “wow” is still fresh).
