Module 8 — Specialty: Hydro-Jetting Pool Deck & French Drains (Lesson)

In Florida, every heavy summer thunderstorm or hurricane feeder band exposes clogged pool-deck channel drains (Deco-Drain), buried downspout tie-ins, and corrugated French drains choked with oak leaves, sand, and roof granules. Hydro-jetting uses your existing 4–8 GPM pressure washer + a flexible sewer-jetter hose and rear-thruster nozzle to pull itself through underground PVC/corrugated pipe, pulverizing blockages and flushing silt out to the pop-up emitter.

1. Jetter Nozzle Physics: How It Pulls Itself Around 90° Elbows

• 1 Forward Punch Jet (0°): Cuts through compacted sand plugs, root hairs, and sludge dams directly ahead of the nozzle.
• 3 to 6 Rear Thruster Jets (30°–45° rearward angle): Propel the WEST BAY 100ft 5800 PSI Sewer Jetter Hose forward deep into the pipe while scouring the interior pipe walls as you slowly retrieve the line.

2. Scope Boundaries & Safety (What Hydro-Jetting Cannot Fix)

• Collapsed Corrugated Pipe or Crushed Bellies: If a tree root or driveway settling has crushed thin black corrugated pipe underground, hydro-jetting will hit a hard stop or return raw clay/mud. Measure the exact footage mark on your jetter hose where the obstruction sits, mark the lawn above ground, and document it in your Proof Pack so the homeowner knows where excavation is needed.
• Always Control the Line with a Ball Valve: Mount an MTM Hydro DN10 Ball Valve right before the jetter hose connection—never pull a live high-pressure jetter nozzle out of the pipe opening while under pressure! Mark the last 3 feet of your jetter hose with bright electrical tape as a visual stop warning.
